Alexander Smail is a freelance multimedia journalist and amateur photographer based in Glasgow.
He has covered culture and news for a variety of publications including The Skinny, Clash, The Sunday Times, The Line of Best Fit, Loud & Quiet and Gold Flake Paint.
He also created and edited Cocoon, a zine about the albums that helped people through the COVID-19 lockdown, which raised over £1200 for charity.
He has experience in both TV and radio production, working with organisations such as BBC Scotland and Radio Clyde.
He has also worked as an Editorial Assistant for The Skinny and is currently the Digital Editor of Fest.
He graduated the University of Edinburgh with an honours degree in Medical Biology, and Glasgow Caledonian University with a masters in Multimedia Journalism, for which he was awarded a Distinction.
He was shortlisted for Young Journalist of the Year at the 2020 PPA Scottish Magazine Awards.
